Womenswear label BasharatyanV launches in the UK and appoints PR

BasharatyanV is the newly launched label by the young fashion designer Veronica Basharatyan. The label specialises in creating outstanding, individually tailored women’s clothing using unique, luxurious fabrics.

Veronica started developing the theme of the SS12 collection ‘Surreal Hidden Beauty’ during her last year of studying at LCF. The initial influence came from a trip to Iran in March 2009, where she experienced the true feel of the East with all its beauty and unique traditions hidden underneath everyday routine. The fact that Modern World does not always understand the real essence of Eastern traditions and therefore sometimes describes it as “too strict” and “not normal” result in numerous works by designers and artists, who try to unveil the “Veiled Middle East”. Following the demonstrations after the 2009 Presidential Elections in Iran and the start of the Green movement, when Iranian people all over the world united for their demand for freedom, Veronica researched the Eastern mentality and explored the beauty of the Persian language.

The SS12 collection therefore draws inspiration from the beauty in the world that often goes unnoticed and the tale of Middle Eastern women who are traditionally obliged to cover up. This idea is further developed from the hidden meaning behind the Persian language ‘Farsi’; which has driven BasharatyanV to develop a Persian script based collection, a combination of images and symbols which represent a deeper meaning and the different emotions that a person can experience.

The collection features 43 looks, produced in delicate silk jersey material and silk Indian dupon to ensure that each look is individually printed and tailored. The prints vary not only in the technique used, but also by the meaning that is hidden within it. By incorporating soft pastel colours beige, cream, baby blue, grey and lilac with black BasharatyanV’s SS12 collection boasts different silhouettes from simple cut dresses, to oversized rounded shoulders and body-con shapes of feminine and elegant pieces.
