Designer collective, The Ravenous Belle & Don launches first pop up art space

Introducing New Blood Designer Collective: The Ravenous Belle & Don

Designer collective – The Ravenous Belle & Don launches its first pop up art space this September 2011 ahead of London Fashion Week and the London Design Festival. The collective is formed of a distinctine group of the city’s best young design talent comprising fashion, accessories, furnishings and art.

Designers offer a mix of styles such as Central St Martin’s College of Art & Design reared Mark Fast, jewelry lovers’ one to watch Miquella and the hottest under the radar labels championed by Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Lady Gaga, Lily Cole, Gwen Stefani, Dita von Teese and the Jagger sisters.

Asserting an integral point of difference from other designer collectives, each label in the group has its own tale to tell. The Ravenous Belle & Don presents a counterpoint to interchangeable brands that don’t engage. The group believe its not enough for fashion to just look nice; people fall in love with stories and characters that mean something to them. Each label in the collective offers beauty in layers: some charming, some subversive, some awe-inspiring. Curiosities all.

The collective will present exciting creative hubs in cities across the globe, offering beautifully stylised spaces for people to drop in, read books, drink tea and explore each label. Each space will also offer a series of evening art events to showcase the diverse creativity each country has to offer, from film screenings and exhibitions to live music and performance art shows.

The first pop up art space will launch in London – the home of the collective’s founding labels Ma Mignonnette, Candy Baker, Arlette Ess and Trevor & Susan. The location will be opposite Spitalfield’s Market, a stone’s throw from Brick Lane and Shoreditch - the city’s unarguable creative centre – at 98 Commercial Street, E1, for 8 days from Thursday 8th – Thursday 15th September 2011; 10am-10pm (Thurs-Sat), 10am-8pm (Sun-Weds).

Superdoll Collectibles signs to Forward PR for its AW 2011 Couture Exhibit

Established in 1999, London’s Superdoll Collectibles designs and creates The Sybarites - high-end fashion dolls, sought out and collected, and unlike any doll you’ve ever seen before. Their autumn/winter offering, Scarlet Ribbon Affair, takes place from the 20th through to the 22nd of October, 2011 and includes a private preview for press on the 20th of October, at Blackall Studios.

The new collection titled Social Monstrosities, is the latest couture outing for The Sybarites. For the uninitiated, these resin dolls stand at a mere seventeen inches high, however, their miniature world makes a huge statement by blending extreme fashion with fine art and biting social commentary.

The past few years have seen annual collections exhibited internationally in Paris, Moscow and Tokyo, and the 20th of October 2011 marks The Sybarites’ return home to London. Their exquisite detail and hedonistic luxury has built an avid following and this is a rare chance for media to sneak a peek at these otherworldly beings before they disappear into private collections worldwide.

October 20th will see The Sybarites in all of their couture glory in an event where the exquisite dolls will soak up pure gluttony in a very eccentric and intricate 1:4.5 scale installation. Collectors from all over the world will be flying in for the unveiling and this is the first time that media are invited to experience the underground world of these haute fashion dolls. This is also the first time that Superdoll Collectibles will be lifting their strict ‘no-photography’ policy and allowing media to capture the dolls on film. On Saturday the 22nd of October media are again invited to review Social Monstrosities, meet collectors and also the creators.

The world’s most celebrated fashion doll company is based right in London and these meticulously detailed dolls, The Sybarites, are the work of artists Charles Fegen and Desmond Lingard. Both trained in fashion and worked for a who’s who of high fashion and couture brands before combining their creative and technical skills with their passion for art and dolls. Their work has received farreaching international recognition including numerous American ‘Industry’s Choice’ awards and the coveted ‘Doll of The Year’ award, as well as the ‘Bright Young Stars of Moscow’ award, which was presented to Charles and Desmond at the Kremlin. Superdoll Collectibles was recently commissioned to create the much-publicised Beth Ditto doll for her line of clothing in conjunction with Evans.
